Yes…. February is love of reading month. Also my birthday month so I look at it as a sort of personal tribute to my favorite hobby. As an only child I learned early on that reading is the most enjoyable solitary pastime.
The book that started me on my lifelong hobby was Philippa Pearce’s “Tom’s Midnight Garden“. The first ‘big’ chapter book I ever read by myself. I’ll never forget it.
eBook or physical book?
I love to surround myself with physical books and I have many hundreds (gulp, maybe thousands) in my possession. However… for reading I prefer my Kindle and ebooks.
Paperback or hardback?
Hardbacks. I like the print better and the heft of holding a hardcover book. Plus they look better on my bookcases. LOL
Fiction or non-fiction?
Fiction all the way (hence the name of my blog) I’ve learned a lot from reading fiction. Non-fiction is not the only way to educate yourself from reading.
Favorite genre?
Thrillers and/or mysteries.
Least favorite genre?
Science fiction.
Borrow or buy?
I like to buy copies of my favorite reads (that way you can always gaze at them when you want) However, I am also a big advocate of borrowing books. My career working in a library sort of states that as a given. Just READ – anyway you can get them.
Monster reads or short & sweet?
Depends on my mood most of the time, but usually my novel choices are around 200-450 pages, although there are exceptions! If the blurb calls me then the length is not a factor.
Last page: read it first or wait till the end?
I love mysteries so reading the last page first would ruin the novel for me. I just can’t imagine why anyone would… though I do personally know a few people who do.
What is the strangest item you’ve ever found in a book?
A piece of bacon which was used as a bookmark! I worked in a library remember.
Used or brand new books?
Both.
One at a time? or several books at once?
One at a time.
Curl up in your snuggle or bathe in the sun?
Both! In the winter I love to curl up and snuggle with an afghan and a good book. In the summer there is nothing I like better than being outside enjoying both my book and the sun.
Coffee, tea or wine?
I like the taste of all three, but for reading outside in the sun I prefer wine. Cuddling up inside to read I prefer tea. My mother was from England after all…

What a fun post & a great way to know u better 🙂 I too am an only child and my mom was a single parent so it was just the two of us and we read ALL the time, ours was a very quiet household Lol The book that really started my love for reading was Superfudge, I was in the 2nd grade and it was my first big chapter book. After that I read everything that Judy Blume wrote! Oh and I love your answer to the strangest thing you’ve found in a book, that was priceless!!

Thanks for sharing! I am also an only child, and I think we are wired emotionally different from other people. My mother taught me to read at the age of three. She also adored her books, so we constantly spent time at the libraries or book stores.
