Cover Love: Part 4 – Doors

I find myself attracted to certain kinds of covers.  Covers are, after all, the way the publisher ‘hooks’ the reader into choosing one book over countless others.

In this, my fourth installment of ‘Cover Love‘, I’d like to show you books from my Goodreads lists that feature doors on their covers.
Some I’ve already read, some are on my ‘to read’ list.

Having a door on the cover is a great ‘hook’ for any fiction book. What is fiction but a portal-like door to other lives, experiences, worlds…? A doorway to characters and events that you would otherwise never imagine?

Just click on the cover to read the book’s info from Goodreads.

Interesting…I find I’m most intrigued by the covers with open doors–especially the one for The Past by Tessa Hadley. Knowing absolutely nothing about this book, I feel compelled to pick it up and open the cover. Another great installment in your Cover Series!

These are indeed wonderful, and I understand the purpose of creativity serving as ‘the hook.’ I think most of us are visual, and some more so than others.
