I’ve read some amazing books this year. Like a mother trying to choose her ‘favorite’ child, this agonizing task of choosing my favorite titles is upon me again.
As I read mostly mystery thrillers, I will confine my results to two general categories. I will choose 10 mysteries/thrillers, and 6 that are not. My reviews are linked to each title.
Top 10 titles that fit into the mystery/thriller category:
“I let you go” by Clare Mackintosh
“Daisy in chains” by Sharon Bolton
“In her wake” by Amanda Jennings
“The twilight wife” by A.J. Banner
“Missing, presumed” by Susie Steiner
“Under the harrow” by Flynn Berry
“I’m thinking of ending things” by Iain Reid
“The widow” by Fiona Barton
“Try not to breathe” by Holly Seddon
“Beside myself” by Ann Morgan
(with another ten very close runners-up – YES, I know this is cheating, but I have read over one hundred books this year, how can I possible stop at TEN!: “The sister” by Louise Jensen; “Valentina” by S.E. Lynes; “The girl in the red coat” by Kate Hamer; “Stasi child” by David Young; “Those we left behind” by Stuart Neville; “Redemption Road” by John Hart; “The girls in the garden” by Lisa Jewell; “The stopped heart” by Julie Myerson; “Alex” by Pierre Lemaitre “Dark water” by Sara Bailey, etc.
Now, for my top 6 fiction books that are not either mysteries or thrillers:
“Britt-Marie was here” by Fredrik Backman
“Miller’s Valley” by Anna Quindlen
“Soft in the head” by Marie Sabine-Roger
“Of sea and seed” by Annie Daylon
“Black Rabbit Hall” by Eve Chase
“The readers of Broken Wheel recommend” by Katarina Bivald
A great year in books for me! How about you?
I liked Black Rabbit Hall too, it was a very interesting read. Love those kinds of books. A very hit or miss genre for me though, but this one was a definite hit 😀
