As many of you know, I follow quite a few great book blogs. Alas…. not all of them are hosted by WordPress.
Today while attempting to write a comment on a blog post I got this message… AGAIN!
I have this blog listed on my WordPress list of trusted sites:
BUT – I still cannot comment on the post.
A while back I wrote a post comparing Blogger with WordPress. Needless to say, WordPress came out on top.
Is this happening to you? Is there anything else I could be doing to facilitate writing comments on Blogger blog posts?
Since I’m writing about blogging platforms I must take the time to mention that even WordPress is not perfect. I’ve found that it has been occasionally ‘unfollowing’ me from blogs that I have followed. Strange! I have followed blogs for months, sometimes years, and suddenly I’m not following them anymore.
This
suddenly turns into this
Have you experienced this?
I, too, have “Unfollowed” when I did not choose too. It is frustrating, but the inability to comment is infuriating. I have found that my posts often pop up later on the site that I commented, but it takes a while.

We usually get this strange sensation where we feel like we already followed that blog…but then we’re like “ehh oh well” thinking we just lost our minds…we usually remember when we come across their posts while blog hunting for new blogs and then we’re like “let’s click dat follow button!!” thinking we just forgot…😞😞
Though we feel it may become a problem after a while – especially if it unfollows the blogs we’ve been following from the start…

Funny you say that about finding that you are unsubscribed to some blogs. I noticed recently that some people who follow my blog had been unsubscribed and they have told me that they did not want to be and had to resubscribe! WordPress weren’t helpful about it. It’s very annoying and strange!

Yes, I think that this has happened enough times, to enough people, that WordPress should be addressing the issue.

I had issues commenting on Blogger blogs as well… then I resulted on a Disqus account just to save me the headache! 😀 and I think that only works in case the blog has Disqus comments enabled?
Hmhh, interesting that you mention the follow/unfollow… I have been thinking lately about some blogs I haven’t seen posts from for a long time…. I best go and make sure I am still following them. Thanks for the heads up.

I have never had any luck with openid so I tend to comment with my google account. I do find I have unfollowed blogs but thought it was because I had accidentally hit the button when scrolling on my phone or iPad.

I don’t tend to follow that many blogger sites either due to how difficult it is to interact with as building relationships is what I like best about blogging.

I agree Allie. It’s too bad that this wonderful book blogging community is so divided by the functionality of the diverse blogging platforms.

To be honest, with a very few exceptions, I’ve stopped trying to follow non-WP blogs – too many problems leaving comments to build up any kind of relationship, I find. And yes, WP does have that ‘unfollow’ glitch – I’m never sure whether it does it itself or whether it’s just too easy to accidentally click on the unfollow button. I wish it would give one of those “Are you sure you want to do this?” warnings…

So far I haven’t had an issue with posting on blogger sites but to be honest I don’t follow that many. Yes to the other point though!

I’ve ALWAYS had problems commenting on blogs that are hosted by Blogger. If the blog doesn’t have the name/URL option available, I don’t even try because I can’t do it with the WP option for some reason. It’s so frustrating. And I’ve had that problem with WP unfollowing blogs, too! It’s so frustrating because I follow a lot of blogs and so I don’t always notice right away and by the time I do notice, it’s been weeks and I’ve missed a lot of posts from that blog.

Yes I’ve had the same problems with blogger and have given up responding, which is so frustrating. Sometimes if you’re looking at a WP blog through an App’s browser – say Twitter’s– and you’re not logged into WP through it, it will look like you’re not following that blog. Hope that makes sense.

Honestly.. I found blogger pretty hard but I appreciate its level of flexibility. You could download any template and use it whereas WordPress is restricting. It’d be very sad to follow someone and then at the end of the day have some stupid machine unfollow them. Hope the problem gets fixed quick. #Better luck

Yes wordpress has unfollowed me many times, but I’m sorry to say, I don’t know what the answer is to this glitch???

I don’t even bother trying to leave comments on Blogger sites anymore. Way too frustrating.

I’m beginning to think I shouldn’t bother either John. Thanks for your comment.

Oh yes…. I say yes to both your issues. Not being able to comment on blogs not hosted on WP and suddenly unfollowing some of my followers. It’s very bothersome, the latter, because some bloggers actually think that I’ve followed them back only months and months later, when in reality I am only re-following them 🙁

I had a blogger blog a few years ago and hated the platform. WordPress is so much easier for me.
As far as unfollowing – that’s been happening to me! It depends on where I view the blog it will tell me that I’m not following them. I get confused so I check the blogs I’m following and it says I’m still following. So basically WordPress lies sometimes!

Unless there’s an option to leave a comment with name/URL, I can’t leave a comment on a blogger blog either. Sad to say I stopped trying and will either tweet a comment or reply in a Facebook group.
Haven’t yet noticed WordPress randomly unfollowing blogs though.

Other people have said they’ve stopped trying to post comments on Blogger blogs. I hope the Blogger bloggers are reading this post…

Yes and yes. Although my current blog is relatively new I have previously blogged for some years and had both these experiences. I was hoping, now that I have returned to the blogging world, that these glitches would have been sorted. Apparently not!
