They say you can never have a second chance to make a good first impression. A book’s cover does just that – gives a first impression. A good cover can make a reader pick up a book. A bad cover can leave the book at the very bottom of a dusty pile.
The covers of novels entice the reader to enter a different world. Covers are, after all, the way the publisher ‘hooks‘ the reader into choosing one book over countless others.
In my forty-ninth installment of ‘Cover Love‘, I’d like to show you books that feature lips on their covers.
Some of the following books I’ve already read, some are on my ‘to read’ list,
and some I chose only for their covers.
Some, perhaps, will now be on your TBR!
ACK! the cover with the bug on the lips gave me the shivers!

Thank you. I love the covers, and your idea for showing specific themes. I knew I should have listened to my publisher. She said, “Put pouting, red lips on your book cover.” I didn’t listen and went with a ghost on a scale, a black belt in karate, and my dog.I guess, you have to just learn from your mistakes. Thanks again, and take care.

Thanks for commenting Patrick. Pouting red lips would not be a good fit for your book. LOL

But I never pick a book by it’s cover. So what does that say about me? LOL

These are tempting covers for sure. I have The Pocket Wife and read Memoirs of a Geisha (fascinating read). I know I’m attracted to certain covers and whenever I see images or titles that include …Paris, bookstores/bookshops, circus/carnival, tea/tea cups or the beach! I know these are a strange combination. Love the lips post.

Ha-Ha Holly! I already have compiled collections for future Cover Love posts that include: Eiffel Tower, Bookshops, Tea cups, and Paths to the beach. I don’t have any with circus/carnival, but I do have one with tents that includes a few of those. We must be on the same wavelength!

‘Memoirs of a Geisha’ is not only one of my favourite novels, but it’s also one of my favourite book covers too! It’s so provocative.
