They say you can never have a second chance to make a good first impression. A book’s cover does just that – gives a first impression. A good cover can make a reader pick up a book. A bad cover can leave the book at the very bottom of a dusty pile.
The covers of novels entice the reader to enter a different world. Covers are, after all, the way the publisher ‘hooks‘ the reader into choosing one book over countless others.
In my 56th installment of ‘Cover Love‘, I’d like to show you books that feature dolls on their covers. And in case you didn’t know, dolls are not just for children anymore…
Some of the following books I’ve already read, some are on my ‘to read’ list,
and some I chose only for their covers.
Some, perhaps, will now be on your TBR!
Just click on the cover to read the book’s synopsis from Goodreads.
You might just find your next favorite book!
Creepy indeed. Noticed that The Toymaker and Suffer the Children are actually the same image. Loving this series as always.

I am in agreement with everyone else, these dolls are really creepy. Most of them are porcelein dolls with cracks which makes them look worse. I have only read one and that is The Doll’s House, however I think I have one other on my TBR, but am not positive. I think these are right up there with creepy clown covers.

Some of these dolls are so creepy! 😱 I do love the one that’s showing its bum though. 😂

So interesting and v creepy – and all except possibly one are female dolls, for some reason. Guess an Action Man on the cover wouldn’t have quite the same impact!

Interesting Jennie. I didn’t even notice that the dolls were female. Though most children’s dolls are…

When you put them all together like that it’s seriously disturbing, even I’m a bit freaked out and I’m not one to freak out. LOL

I don’t know why but dolls really creep me out. I watched too many horrors during my teen years I think! Clowns tend to have that effect on me too, I stayed recently at a Airbnb place decorated with clowns and I did not sleep very well… 😂
Those are some seriously disturbing covers! 👌

Perhaps I should have saved this post until Hallowe’en. LOL

Those have to be some of the creepiest covers I’ve seen! Who would have guessed “dolls”? I actually love dolls and have collected them since I was a child, but not the creepy version. lol

As soon as I saw the subject for this instalment, I thought: ‘creepy’ 😀 I was never a fan of dolls as a child and on book covers I associate them with scary, sinister themes. Most of the covers here suggest that I’m right 🙂 (S shivers despite it being warm and sunny outside!)

Funny Sandra. Everyone seems to think this was a creepy post. I think I should have saved it for October. LOL I’ll try to find something more soothing next time. ♥

If you want to have a creepy cover, you should definitely put a doll on it! I haven’t read any of these but they all seem chilling. The only one that didn’t totally creep me out was Cutting Teeth 🙂
