Blocked? Hurt and puzzled…

As many of you know, I follow a lot of book bloggers and try to Tweet their reviews in support of their efforts.  Today I tweeted a good review and then tried to ‘Follow’ this blogger on Twitter (I thought I was already following her) – only to learn that she has BLOCKED me on Twitter!  I’m hurt and puzzled… Do I ‘Tweet’ too often? Did I offend her in any way?

Anyway, I’m removing her blog from my large blogroll, and she will be replaced on my Top 20 Book Bloggers blogroll. I hope she understands.

Has this ever happened to you?

I am so sorry this happened to you. I had a very similar experience when I used.to have a Twitter account. I shared a video of a British YouTuber and discovered.a few days later that I was blocked. Very odd and hurtful

Ohhh doll 😞 it’s horrible that she blocked you, but LOOK AT ALL THIS LOVE you’re getting in these comments! I feel like something good came out of it, you get to see how many wonderful people in this great community do love and appreciate you ❤️ I’ve been following you on Twitter for a while and I promise it’s nothing you’re doing wrong, clearly this is a reflection on her, not you.

  4. Well I think you’re so supportive on twitter- so I’d guess it’s a mistake. Either way, you’re awesome and I’m just one of the few people that’s grateful for you on there! ❤

I don’t tweet so obviously this has never happened to me. I can’t believe someone would block you especially when you are supporting them by retweeting thier tweets. Que sera sera, it is their loss Lynne, not yours. So many other wonderful bloggers and tweeters (is that a term) to follow and support. Hugs

Maybe a technical glitch or something? I also want to take this chance to thank you for being so supportive and always sharing my blog posts/reviews! I really appreciate it!

  8. Oh my goodness, I am sure it isn’t anything you’ve done and is possibly an error – I know on my phone with its small screen combined with my poor eyesight I’ve often nearly clicked buttons I don’t mean to or voted down things when I’ve meant the opposite in fact I had to go and double check I was still on the roll call in case this was me!

  10. That’s very sad to hear about ur experience with that blogger.
Don’t be sad because the blogger blocked it’s not your loss it the that blogger’s loss.
Your such a lovely person, read a good book with a hot cup of coffee you will feel better 🙂

  12. Ditto what everyone else has said. It’s hard to imagine anyone intentionally blocking you. I’ve only ever blocked people who were bots or trolls. It’s so frustrating to not know why and not have them reply to say it was a mistake. It would bother me as well. But I assure you, it’s them not you. 😍

    • Thanks Myndi. It has been frustrating for sure. When I go to Twitter and search her name it shows that I’m following her – yet she has blocked me. I can’t ‘unfollow’ her because I am blocked. URRRGGGG. Thanks for your support. ♥

  13. I can understand that you would be confused and hurt, I would too. However, I also think it’s probably a mistake. You really are such a kind and supportive person.
    Big hugs ❤ ❤ ❤

  14. How strange. You are so supportive on Twitter, I can’t understand why you’d be blocked. Maybe a mistake…

That is weird… if you think someone tweets too much you can just mute them, blocking someone seems too rude :S Hope it sorts out!

Ouch. I haven’t had that experience with blogger friends, but I know how it feels to figure out I’ve been blocked by a ‘friend’ on Facebook. It definitely hurts, especially when you have no idea why it happened.

I hope it all get sorted out!

Yep. To my knowledge it’s not a person I’ve ever interacted with let alone fallen out with so I have no idea why. But it’s one less person to retweet so that’s all good.

    It’s loss. I shouldn’t worry. x

I’m sure it’s a blip in the system but if not it’s their loss you are such a supportive blogger why anyone would block you is a puzzle. Sending you big hugs x

I think it may be down to Twitter – sometimes it may automatically block a certain link. I’m no longer on twitter but know that sometimes their privacy rules can be strange and block messages / people out.
It must have felt hurtful but I honestly believe that the person may not even be aware of it. Crossing my fingers you get to the bottom of it. ❤

Oh I can completely understand how this would be hurtful, but my hope is that it was just a glitch and it will be sorted out!💜

Maybe it isn’t a an actual block from the user and a Twitter issue instead. I know this happens to me on Goodreads quite a bit and it’s a horrible feeling. I always question why, but I’ve learned to let it go because when you’re blocked on GR, you cannot message the person at all. I hope you get it figured out though. Hugs ❤

Wow. That’s incredibly strange. You’re such a courteous blogger. Although I have had it happen to me once as well. Even though this blogger occasionally still tweeted my WordPress posts they had blocked me on Twitter so I couldn’t follow them. Hopefully it’s just an error but it sure doesn’t feel good.

I’m not familiar with your Twitter, but I can agree with others when they say that seems odd! I would add that I think in these days with touch screens, it can be pretty easy to accidentally perform an action on social media you didn’t intend to perform.

From following you on here though, I can tell you are a supportive blogger – so I wouldn’t worry about your content being offensive!

  29. Lynne I would expect it’s probably an error or a glitch within Twitter or possibly a setting that the owner is unaware of. I’m sure it will sort itself out. I can fully understand the initial hurt on discovering something like this though..

I am certain it was a glitch with something unrelated; you are more than kind about referring other book bloggers to us. I don’t belong to any form of social media————I am clueless about how it works, but it just has to be something unintended. I know you must be hurt and confused, too.

  31. How strange? I don’t think I’ve ever been blocked but I have blocked some dodgy looking accounts.

I have read articles in the NYT, on Medium, and in Longreads about some weird things going on in the Twittersphere. It seems that some retweets (or tweets) might occasionally carry links that Twitter is monitoring. The problem comes down to one of those “friend of a friend of a contact” situations. It also may be that the user has converted the account to Private.

  33. No, this hasn’t happened to me (as least not that I’m aware of). If you were tweeting too much, all the blogger need do is mute you. Curious.

  34. Twitter acts up sometimes. This person may not know it’s happened. I have noticed it once but since it was someone I never interacted with, it didn’t bother me. I’m sorry to hear this has upset you! xx
