Most readers will acknowledge that some words reappear time and time again in titles. Often these words are associated with a particular genre. Case in point: “The girl on the train” and “Gone girl” spawned countless thriller titles with the word ‘girl’ in the title.
I know there are thousands of books with the word ‘bitter’ in the title, but I’m featuring a small selection of titles that appeal to me personally, as a way of sharing my book love. Two of these titles I’ve read, most of the rest are on my TBR.
Just click on the cover to read the book’s synopsis from Goodreads.
You might just find your next favorite book!

Are you tempted by any of these covers?
Have you read one of these titles and absolutely LOVED it?
If you’ve added even one of these titles to YOUR TBR, please let me know.
Wow. Bitter Greens? Haha. It may be a find book but it’s hard to picture naming an entire novel that. Sounds like a sarcastic cooking show. Great list and great post!

Once again, it surprises me to see how many books with Bitter are in the title. I have 2 of these, Bitter Poison and Bitter Roots on my TBR. Just for fun I did a search of the word Bitter on my Goodreads list and I have 5 that are not on your list. You know I am going to check out several of these and probably add at least 5 more. Another great addition to your series Lynne.

The more I look at the word ‘bitter’, the less I understand it as a word. This happens whenever I see the same word over… is that just me?!
Anyway I really want to read Bitter Orange when it’s in paperback.

Bitter is an odd word – I can see why it would cause you semantic satiation.

The cover I like the best (LOVE!) is Bitter Orange but I already have that on my TBR list. The covers of Bitter Sun, Bitter Poison and This Bitter Earth are also intriguing!

I hadn’t noticed that there were so many titles using the word bitter. I’ve read and enjoyed In Bitter Chill. I have Bitter, Bitter Fruits, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, and Bitter Orange on my TBR and hope to get to them soon. I’m now really surprised that I hadn’t noticed how often Bitter is used in a title with all these books on my shelves! Great post 🙂

The only one of these I’ve read is In Bitter Chill – and I did love it! And I’m tempted to read Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet.

I have read, Bitter Orange – Claire Fuller. I found it was a summary of how some people get trapped in life and the world is unfair.

Great word! The only title I’ve read is the well loved Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. I have read a non fiction selection: Bittersweet by Shauna Neiguest.

The title you mentioned has been on my TBR for years. Hope to squeeze it in between arcs before too much more time slips by…
