In my 83rd installment of ‘Cover Love‘, I thought I’d do a post about churches on book covers. Many people find comfort and solace through religion, especially at this time of year. We must remember too just how many crimes were committed, and wars waged – all in the name of religion.
They say you can never have a second chance to make a good first impression. A book’s cover does just that – gives a first impression. A good cover can make a reader pick up a book. A bad cover can leave the book at the very bottom of a dusty pile.
The covers of novels entice the reader to enter a different world. Covers are, after all, the way the publisher ‘hooks‘ the reader into choosing one book over countless others.

Sadly, churches are almost becoming obsolete. I don’t know about Scotland, but here in Nova Scotia many churches are closing and being repurposed. The younger generation doesn’t seem to have any interest in keeping them going…

Same here really. Lots have closed and been converted into houses, other places of worship, community centres etc. Times change I suppose.

Wow, so many mysteries or suspense pictured here. The only one of these that is even on my TBR is Final Vows by Amanda Flowers. Just out of curiosity, I googled Books with a Church on the Cover and got a list of 118 from Goodreads, not a one on my TBR or read. There are a couple here that I want to read, Still Life is one for sure. Another great Cover Love post Lynne.
