Since we’re all stuck at home due this global pandemic, what better time than to do a little light housekeeping – book blogger style.I love being a wee part of this fantastic book-blogging community. To that end, I try to support my fellow bloggers as much as I can, time permitting. I have a vast blogroll of 143 book bloggers whose blogs I visit as often as time permits.
For whatever reason, some of these bloggers have not updated their blogs in a while. A few of them for several months. To that end, I decided it would be doing my followers a disservice to leave their blogs on the roll – so I have visited each and every one of the 143 blogs and if they have not posted for more than three months, I have deleted them from my blogroll. It would be great if bloggers posted a hiatus post, or in some way notified their followers that they plan to stop blogging, but hey – maybe they had their reasons.
Sadly, three of the book blogs I deleted from my blog roll were three of my most favourite bloggers. Unfortunately, they had not updated their blogs since June, July and December of 2019.
Also, to my surprise, three of the blogs I follow had name changes.
As of today, there are now 134 book bloggers in my blogroll. If you have a book blog that is not included, let me know and I will add you to the list (if you post frequently).
Do YOU plan to do any Blog Housekeeping in 2020?
Some housekeeping I’ll be doing in addition to cleaning up my blogroll:
- Updating my Review Policy
- Reviewing my ‘About‘ page and updating if necessary.
- Making sure I’ve got all my reviews listed on my Book Reviews page
- Adding some new entries on my Word Love page
I hope everyone is staying physically and mentally well during these strange and challenging days.
You’re so lovely to support book bloggers. I’ve started a new book blog myself and posts like these really motivate me 😊 I’m following your awesome blog now!

Hehehe relieved to see I survived the Kondoing of your blog roll Lynne 😉 I love it as a resource, I’ve discovered so many great book bloggers through your recommendations, so thank you! And as for my own housekeeping, I went ahead and finally overhauled my review directory – Keeper Upperers are no longer just faced with a list of books I’ve reviewed in no discernible order, but have the option to browse by Title, Author, Category, or Recommended. It’s a small thing, but I feel very proud of the outcome!

Great post and great idea! It’s hard to blog and follow blogs! Man…
I think I’ll do some blog-housekeeping in the manner of reviewing my pages and my goals as well as making sure things are in the right places.
Probably also wouldn’t be a bad idea to make sure my blog roll is still relevant. Thanks for provoking thoughts!

The only thing I was thinking of doing was an alphabetical list of authors and their books that I’ve read and reviewed. Maybe…

Blog housekeeping… Sounds very important – and it is! Only if I could get myself to do it on a regular basis!

Hello Lynne! I am fairly new to book blogging but post weekly since I started around a month ago. I have read back through some of your posts and thoroughly enjoyed the content, I’m sure I’ll be tuning in regularly! I’d love to be included in your blog roll if you happen to like any of my posts – I’m currently in the process of assembling a list of the book bloggers I follow to include my own roll on my blog and would definitely show my support for yours. I hope you’re keeping well during these times and happy reading 🙂

Thank you! And oh… that is strange, perhaps it’s because I had a domain name change early on! The link to my site is: http://www.laurenslockdown.wordpress.com – does this one work for you? 🙂

Actually just discovered she’s on Facebook and posting regularly. I’m not friends with her though so don’t feel I can contact her.

I updated my review A-Z last week and felt quite pleased with myself. Of course, since then several more have been added so I’m never quite up to date! 😊

Hey friend! Thanks for including me on your blog roll! I started cleaning up my blog in January and I’m working on it month by month by following a Blogging Challenge. I always gets behind in adding reviews to my index and then have to play catch up. I do not have a blog roll….I need to look into that! Do you list everyone you follow or only the ones you interact with most?

It’s up to you Carol. I have a small blog roll which I visit every day. I also have a longer blog roll which I try to visit once a week or so. It was seeing the lack of activity on some of these sites that spurred me to do some housekeeping.

Every once in a while I will do this with my Instagram and twitter accounts I don’t think I’ve ever gone through my WordPress though. It’s about time for me to do Instagram and twitter again so maybe I should just add WordPress into the mix as well because it says I’m following 200+ blogs and I know I don’t see posts from all of them. Hope you are staying safe.

Great idea to go through your WordPress follows. I was referring to my own blog roll as listed to the right of my blog. I use the “Links” tool to maintain it. Hope this makes it clearer – sorry to mislead you.

Great job Lynne. I did the same with my blog role a short while ago. If they had not updated in 2020, I stopped actively following their blog. I love that you have a list of all the books you have reviewed. Alphabetical, colour coordinated, I am impressed. I have way too many to do that now. I had thought about it at one time and wished that i had started, but too late now. I hope you are keeping active and safe Lynne. All the best to your family, who are on the frontlines, as well.
