Wednesday’s Word = POISON

Most readers will acknowledge that some words reappear time and time again in titles. Often these words are associated with a particular genre. Case in point: “The girl on the train” and “Gone girl” spawned countless thriller titles with the word ‘girl’ in the title.

I know there are hundreds of books with the word ‘poison’ in the title, but I’m featuring a selection of 17 titles that appeal to me personally, as a way of sharing my book love.

I think most of these titles are classified in the thriller and mystery genre.

Just click on the cover to read the book’s synopsis from Goodreads.
You might just find your next favorite book! Are you tempted by any of these covers?

The only one I read is The Poison Garden by Alex Marwood, I liked it but it was a very different thriller that left me with some questions. I never thought there would be that many books with the word “Poison” in the title.

Gosh, who knew? I probably could have come up with one book with poison in the title. Look at all these! Nice job, Lynne!

  8. My favourite book with the word POISON in the title is Strong Poison by Dorothy L. Sayers. This is the book in which her detective character, Lord Peter Wimsey meets his love, Harriet Vane, just as she is put on trial for murder. If you have never read any Sayers, I can highly recommend her, and this one is a great place to start, although Gaudy Night is my favourite of her novels.
