They say you can never have a second chance to make a good first impression. A book’s cover does just that – gives a first impression. A good cover can make a reader pick up a book. A bad cover can leave the book at the very bottom of a dusty pile.
The covers of novels entice the reader to enter a different world. Covers are, after all, the way the publisher ‘hooks‘ the reader into choosing one book over countless others.
With Valentine’s Day tomorrow, many women plan to wear RED on the day. Thus, my choice for this, my 97th installment of Cover Love.
Well there you have it! Lots and lots of women in red. Red is so eye-catching, it is no wonder that it is a common choice for book covers. Have you read any of these titles?
Don’t forget to check out any of the other previous 96 installments of Cover Love, many of which have been updated since they were first published.
I have read Dear Mrs. Bird and The Dutch House. I would not have expected so many books with women in red dresses. I am sure there are probably a lot more out there.

I only ever just barely scratch the surface with my cover love titles. Just enough to get my point across I hope.

Gosh there are loads of them aren’t there? I suppose as you say it’s because red is such a striking colour. I’ve read quite a few of these.

There’s definitely something wholly divine about a woman in a red dress, isn’t it?

I read somewhere that men prefer women in red over all other color…

Once again I’m hugely surprised at how many covers there are ft. women in red.

Wow! I never really thought about color on books or used in product sales even. Until recently. I read that the color of the year (for product sales) for 2020 was blue. Shortly after, I was in the grocery store and I started noticing products packaged in blue. Unreal — they were everywhere! Thanks for your wonderful blog — I learn something every time I read it!

I used to have a file with women running away dressed in red coats/jackets. My boss liked finding them, too, and adding to the list. I read somewhere that red is a good color for sales.

Ha Mary. That subject was my very first Cover Love blog post and what spurred the series. See: https://fictionophile.com/2016/04/28/cover-love-part-1-in-red-walking-away/
