I’ve added EIGHT review commitments to my TBR this month.
I received FIVE of these titles from NetGalley.
with no commitment to review, but of course I will anyway.
I have no commitment to review the titles I receive via ‘Amazon First Reads‘
Are you wondering why I didn’t get any books this month from Edelweiss? I had requested four, but sadly, my requests were all declined… this makes me very sad because I really, really wanted to read them.
They were: “The Shape of Darkness” by Laura Purcell; “Strange Flowers” by Donal Ryan; “Rock, Paper Scissors” by Alice Feeney; and “The Death of Jane Lawrence” by Caitlin Starling.
Do any of these titles sound good to you?
I also had a bunch of declines from Edelweiss recently. Not sure why.

I’m sorry to hear that Davida, but it is a bit comforting to know that I am not alone.

can’t believe your requests were denied by Edelweiss! who dropped the ball on that one!? well, i was looking for Alice Feeney as well–but from my local library. i’d rather get an audiobook but they are hard to come by.

Lynne,
I’m stunned that you should be declined by Edelweiss as in my opinion you are one of the best reviewers out there. Are they mad? Still, it’s their loss and my gain. Thank you so much for offering to read Here She Lies. I’m delighted. You will always be my no.1 blogger and reviewer. I trust your scores and comments and value your opinions.

Wow Kerry. Your wonderful and kind comments have made me feel much better. I’m not sure what’s going on with my Edelweiss account, as I’ve never had trouble being approved before…

Hi. My wife just bought two books. Have you read them? The Boy From The Woods by Harlan Coben. Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens.

I have not read “The Boy from the Woods” but I HAVE read “Where the Crawdads Sing”. Delia Owens’ book was one of my all-time favorite reads. I hope your wife (and you) enjoy it.

These all sound so good. I am surprised that you are being declined on Edelweiss. Have you filled out your profile? I am the other way around, I used to be declined a lot, but am now getting approved more. I hope you get it sorted out.

Oh yes Carla. My Edelweiss profile strength is showing as ‘excellent’, so that’s not the problem. I’m particularly concerned about one of the publishers who turned me down as I just did a blog tour for them this week. It is starting to stress me out. 😒

I have actually re-requested books after being declined and got approved the second time, perhaps a different publicist???

Good idea Carla. I’ll give it a go.

I loved The Truth About Melody Browne when I read it years ago, and really want to do a reread sometime. Hope you enjoy it Lynne!

Truth be told, after years of almost constant approvals on Edelweiss, my last nine title requests have been declined. My feedback ratio is decent so I’m not sure what has changed…

Those declines hurt! It causes me to be rebellious and think that I won’t even read the book at all! And sometimes I haven’t! If I have a good reviewing reputation, why would you want to insult a potential reader and in effect say “we don’t need your free publicity or good will or interest!” I wish they would at least say that they have maxed out on arcs. Or something that wouldn’t cause us to take it personally!

I agree Carol. If they supplied a reason it wouldn’t be so hard to take.
