My Tuesday post where I’ll ‘tease‘ you with the cover, blurb, and first paragraph of one of the advanced reader’s copies from my own TBR.
This book is a title I downloaded from NetGalley.
Today, Tuesday February 15, 2022 I want to introduce one of the ARCs on my TBR.
This novel will be published on February 22, 2022
Publisher: Atria Books
ISBN: 9781982177157 – ASIN: B0984KQFVM – 352 pages
1) The whole ‘haunted house’ vibe from the blurb.
2) The upper New York State setting sounds appealing.
3) Who as a teenager didn’t want to DARE to enter a creepy old house?
4) This is a ‘new to me’ author. I’m always up for a new reading experience.
From the prologue:
“One of the girls found out about the house first. It was always this way; one heard the story and told the others, and so the secret was passed down, girl to girl, generation to generation. She heard her mother talking about it, about something that had happened there before the girl was born, something bad. This secret place still existed, hidden in the woods, waiting to be found again.”
The actual first paragraph:
“I’m back.
I’m sitting in my car in the almost empty parking lot of the Sisters of Mercy Hospital. The sun has long since dipped behind the low peaks of the Adirondacks, and the last traces of light are leaving the sky in the west behind me. The car engine cools down, ticking, metal settling back into its resting state.“
Is this a title that you would consider adding to your TBR pile?
Why, or why not?
Let me know in the comments.
“The First Day of Spring” is a novel we surely will have a look at. Style and plot seem to be extraordinary. Thanks for your little review.
