Celebrate Library Lovers’ Month with the Most Anticipated Reads on the Libby App
OverDrive librarians curated a special February collection of must-read titles to celebrate book lovers and lovers of libraries.
Love is in the air during the month of February as readers worldwide celebrate the most romantic time of the year with valentines, books and their favorite librarians. Started in Australia in 2006, Library Lovers’ Day (Feb. 14) quickly evolved into an international month-long celebration recognizing the contributions and services libraries and librarians provide local communities. Libby, the free library reading app created by OverDrive, is commemorating Library Lovers’ Month in 2022 with a must-read collection by librarians.

Featuring titles like Jane Pek’s The Verifiers and Barbara Chase-Riboud’s The Great Mrs. Elias, this collection of ebooks and digital audiobooks are available to borrow and read for free in the Libby app. Libby is available from 21,000 libraries worldwide, including approximately 90 percent of libraries in North America, and brings users 24/7 free access to the digital titles their public library offers. In addition to downloading ebooks and audiobooks for offline reading and listening, library lovers can listen to their librarian’s favorite audiobooks and have a seamless on-the-go listening experience with Libby through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The app is also compatible with Sonos speakers, and audiobooks can be streamed to Google Home and Amazon Echo devices, bringing the library to households everywhere.
Readers can even indulge in librarian favorite The Paris Apartment and take a journey of discovery with Black Cake while creating notes and highlights or defining words through Libby’s state-of-the-art reading experience. Users can even adjust an ebook’s font size, layout and background lighting to their preference.
Digital content from local public libraries is accessible for free on Libby with a valid library card, and readers in more than 70 U.S. markets can sign up for Instant Digital Cards with a phone number. To begin borrowing ebooks, audiobooks and more from the local public library, download the Libby app for free from the App Store or Google Play.

I love the Libby app, as well as Cloud Library (which the city library uses). I get a lot of my audiobooks through them.

Thank you for this post, Lynne. I do love my Overdrive and prefer it to Libby, which can sometimes be a problem for me as well. (Still better than the NG app tho!)

Haha. I will never again use the NetGalley app. What a disaster!

I’ve used them for several years now! I’m glad they’re working with public libraries to make digital and audio books free and accessible to the public ☺ my only complaint is that Libby tends to glitch, freeze, and crash a lot, so I switched to Overdrive

Sorry you’ve been having trouble with Libby Vicky. I’ve never had that happen to me. Perhaps contact your library about the issue? Anyway, I’m glad to hear that you use this service.
