The cover was first drew me to this novel. The setting was an idyllic small Vermont town.
I imagined that there would be a mystery element to this book, but it was more a straight out romance.
The characters were all attractive, though troubled personalities with some emotional growth ahead of them. The two main male characters were locally born and bred, while the two female characters had just moved to Mystic, Vermont from more urban locales.
In addition to the romance, there were other themes touched upon. Betrayal, loss, PTSD, spousal abuse, and ‘starting over’. There were a few ‘steamy’ scenes, but nothing too risqué.
Although this is not my genre of choice, it was highly entertaining and a welcome respite from my usual fare of crime and thriller. I would recommend it to those readers who enjoy romantic escapism with a tad of heft thrown in. Fans of Robyn Carr’s ‘Virgin River‘ series are sure to enjoy this book.
I received a complimentary digital copy of this novel from Oliver-Heberd Books via NetGalley at my own request, for my own enjoyment and the writing of this review.

It was a nice break from crime, but now I’m more than ready to return to a thriller. LOL
